Pink Sangria

Take the fruit wedges, and muddle/crush/twist them into the glass, releasing all the nice juices and oils. Fill the glass, which should be a full pint or more, almost to the top with ice. Add peach liqueur, pucker, Stoli Razz, and Limon, and the three ounces of the white zinfandel. A nice shiraz can be substituted for a Red Sangria.

Now depending on your taste, add equal parts sour mix, and sprite. The drink really needs to be shaken, so use your preferred method. After you've established how much Sour and Sprite, the drink can be mixed in the shaker to make things easier.

Feel free to upsize this one with a full bottle of wine, for a pitcher of fruity boozy goodness.

The Peekskill Brewery

Stopped in on Saturday for a beer. Had the Paramount Pale Ale - it was excellent. Nice hop aroma and citrus character, but not overly bitter. Every bit as good as those I've had in the Pacific Northwest. Also tasted the Vanilla Bourbon Stout, which was nice - malty, but not really sweet. The bartender (didn't get his name) was very enthusiasti...

Union Brewery

This place is a great Biker Bar, no mater what level of biker you are. It has great history, and they do not claim to make the beer there themselves. The Union Brewery beer is brewed in Oregon, not in a wash tub in their basement. The owner Jet makes an awesome bloody mary mix, and refuses to sell blended drinks to keep the bar atmosphere genuin...

Musings Over a Pint: Spring Comes to Blue Mountain Brewery

Our friends over at Nelson County Life bring us this story as a hint of the upcoming Spring. The folks at Blue Mountain Brewery in Afton were planting hops on Monday.

Temps made it to the middle 60’s Monday afternoon in the Rockfish Valley of Nelson County, and people that have been waiting on the warmer weather made use of it! Our Paul Purpura caught up with Stan Driver, owner of Riverside Horticulture & Nursery in Nellysford, getting the ground ready and putting in hops at Blue Mountain Brewery in Afton.

The hops will be used in the beers produced at Blue Mountain. For more on the hop farm at Blue Mountain see the brewery's web site.

Potable Curmudgeon, The: Bank Street Brewhouse closed tonight, to resume normal hours on Wednesday.

Sometimes you just can't buy a break. You just have to laugh it off.

We can't open NABC Bank Street Brewhouse tonight (Tuesday) because the toilets are malfunctioning. Plumbers are on the way, but it looks to be a longer fix than a merely temporary closure. We'll be back tomorrow morning and try again.

Verily, this s**t is getting old (pun fully intended).

Good news: Indiana American Water is investigating last Friday's water outage calamity at the Pizzeria & Public House. So is our attorney.

Go Anywhere With a Battery Coffee Grinder

Tea is the number one drink in the world, but that is most likely due to its ease of travel. Because it is in bags it can go anywhere without sacrificing taste. Coffee is also a large staple in the drink world and is heavily ingrained in many cultures. In America, coffee is drunk all day, but it is best known as a morning ritual. It is the drink that starts to the day.
